Bettering the world in making green by helping small farmers

It is a great pleasure to issue this message to the official website of the Small Organic Farmers’ Association (SOFA) as its President. We started our organization working with only 189 organic farmers as far back as 1997. Having started as a small society, with more than 24 years experience with the Fairtrade concept, we have now become a very strong organization with more than 3600 organic farmers engaged in producing organic tea, spices, coconut, paddy, herbs and many other products according to the international organic standards.

By strictly adhering to the concept of Fairtrade, our farmers work collectively and democratically with transparency, while being dedicated to the protection of environment.

Through the investment and utilization of premiums received, we were able to further strengthen the capacity of our organization and improve the agricultural and land development activities of our small farmers, their level of income, health, social and welfare activities and the education of their children.

As President, I invite you to join hands with us in initiating more and more development projects which open windows for social, economic and agricultural development of our small farmers and poor community in our project areas.
